Thea Hoogstraten

A lawyer who takes great pains to avoid hanging out with other lawyers when possible, Thea is a connoisseur of art, music, and dog costumes. She finds all of them in abundance near her East Vancouver home.

Thea maintains a diverse practice including administrative law, appellate advisory and advocacy, municipal law, and defamation. She appears regularly before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as various administrative tribunals. Before joining Allen / McMillan, Thea clerked at the British Columbia Court of Appeal and articled and practiced at a leading national law firm.

Thea is an Adjunct Professor at her alma mater, the Peter A. Allard School of Law, where she teaches an upper-level seminar on government liability. When not at work, Thea enjoys spending time with her partner, who horrifies her by eating popcorn with a spoon.
